2D loved getting involved in science week. Their task- Could they make a sand timer to last exactly one minute?
Some fantastic science teamwork allowed the children to question their investigation and adapt their ideas to meet the needs of our question! Well done 2D!

Year 6 Science Week
How long does it take a pendulum to swing? What variables affect it? The length of the swing? The weight of the item that is swinging? The size of the swing? As Albert Einstein said – The important thing is to never stop questioning.
3M Science
Investigator Giddy set us a challenge to make a healthy balanced breakfast, lunch and dinner using the eat well guide for guidance. Can you identify what food groups are on our plates?
Year 5 trip to Manchester Museum
We had a fabulous day at Manchester Museum making links with rainforests, Ancient Egypt, animal classification and fossils. Everything was totally engrossing and we recommend a visit – it’s free!
February Half Term Fun at the Science and Industry Museum Manchester
Forest School
The children of the first Forest Group had a fantastic experience at their forest school. Despite the unpredictable weather, they still had fun and created many unforgettable memories. They challenged themselves by climbing, swinging, and jumping, using tools safely, and exploring their creativity. The day always ended with a cup of hot chocolate and a delicious treat.
Popping Popcorn
The nursery children had a lot of fun participating in a science experiment. We made popcorn, just like the little mouse from our story ‘Bear Snores On’.
We used our five senses: sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell to make popcorn.
First, we looked at the popcorn kernels and allowed the children to see, touch, smell, and hear them. Next, we put the kernels in the microwave and discussed the sounds we heard. While the popcorn was popping, we talked about what we saw, heard, and smelled. Once the popcorn was done, we noticed that each kernel had a different shape and that it was warm and fluffy. The most exciting part of our popcorn experiment was getting to eat the popcorn.
Forest School
We had a fantastic experience at Forest School. We went on a trip to ‘Narnia’, which is located in Blackley Forest. We worked collaboratively as a team to create dens for the animals mentioned in our new story, ‘Bear Snores On’. During our time there, we had the opportunity to explore the beautiful natural surroundings and learn about the forest during the winter season. Also, we enjoyed hugging trees.
4P science investigation
Year 4 are learning all about the human digestive sysyem in our science lessons. In this lesson, we recreated the system in our groups. What a messy, fun and informative lesson it was!
3M Science
In Science we have been learning about animals including humans. We’ve spent time building a skeleton by labelling the different parts of our body particularly the bones for support and protection.
