Children’s Mental Health Week

Children’s Mental Health Week takes place during the week beginning Monday 9 February. This year’s theme is “This Is My Place,” which encourages children to think about places where they feel safe, happy, and that they belong.

During the week, children will take part in simple activities such as class discussions, reading, creative work, and reflection time to support their emotional wellbeing.

On Wednesday 11 February, we will have a non-uniform day for a small donation. Children can wear clothes that represent a place where they feel comfortable or safe, such as home, a hobby, a sports team, a club, or school. Our aim is to help children feel confident talking about belonging and understanding that school is a safe place for everyone.

Hello Yellow

To celebrate World Mental Health Day. Our school will be taking part in Hello Yellow on Friday 10th October to support the charity Young Minds, which helps young people with their mental health.

Children are invited to wear yellow on the day and we kindly ask for any donations to support this important cause. Some of the money raised will also go towards improving our own school’s mental health resources.

Investigator Terri!

Yesterday, Year 3 had the most peculiar surprise! An unusual object appeared in our classroom, completely covered in bin bags and spilling out rubbish.

To our amazement, we discovered it had been sent by Investigator Terri. Inside was a letter asking us to help sort the rubbish into magnetic materials and non-magnetic materials to power the fuel bank.

The children worked brilliantly as scientists, testing and sorting every piece using magnets. Once the job was done, another message arrived telling us that Terri will be back in contact in 186 hours!

We can’t wait to hear from Investigator Terri again and find out what our next mission will be! 🚀

We also drew what we thought Investigator Terri might look like and displayed this on our Science wall.

Anxiety Workshop

We had a brilliant workshop for parents around the theme of anxiety. It was hosted by Zain Iqbal from Healthy Schools and together we looked at anxiety in children, what it is and how parents can best support. It was really well received and many parents were keen to get a full copy of the slide deck. Please click here to access the slides from the Anxiety Workshop.

Zain Iqbal from Healthy Schools will be back with another fantastic workshop on Children’s Mental Health on Friday 26th April at 2pm – more details to follow after the Easter holidays.
