Year 2M We Will Remember.

The children enjoyed making their poppy wreath for our classroom door and learning all about being respectful. Edward very kindly brought in his Great Grandad’s medals. The children had lots of questions for Edward about his paratrooper grandad. What an excellent primary source of information Edward, thank you for sharing!

5M Poppy Wreath

We have been learning about Remembrance Day in 5M and the significance of the poppy as the symbol of both Remembrance and hope for a peaceful future. We have created a poppy wreath with special messages to those who have lost their lives fighting for our future.

Future Poets!

Year 6 have been working hard all week on their World War One inspired poetry. We wrote our stanzas on strips of paper and mixed up our classes for a feedback session. We will be redrafting our poems after the half term break in preparation to share them in our class assembly and at the Blackley Forest Remembrance Service on 11.11.23.

Year 1 – History – Old and New Toys

In our History lessons this half term the children will be learning about old and new toys.

Our topic title is “Whose toys are more exciting, ours or our great grandparents?”

The children will explore both olden day and modern day toys, they will discover what the toys are made out of, what features they have and similarities and differences between old and new toys.

Here is a knowledge organiser – you can use this to ask your child questions about the topic and even teach them or ask them about the different vocabulary that is being used throughout our topic.
