Willow has just started learning the skills of playing with the Samba instruments. They are already sounding amazing. Ask them what the name of their instruments are, see if they can remember.

Every Tuesday in year 4 we have been learning how to play the ukulele with Mrs Edwards.

In Nursery we spent the afternoon learning how to be good speakers and listeners.
We listened to the story ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear’ by Eric Carle. We all chose an animal from the bag and used a clear voice to tell our friends about it. We made sure we were looking at the person who was talking and that we sat nice and still!
In Music we sang a song about a hungry monster! We all used our low voices to pretend to be the monster. Some of us pretended to be the brave children in the song who said, ‘No!’ in a loud clear voice to scare the monster away!
Well done Nursery for your fantastic speaking and listening skills!

Year 5 have been involved in a project with the ENO (The English National Opera). Their brief was too compose a piece of music inspired by a colour!
They received some fantastic feedback fromm the ENO and 5M’s piece was used to make an animation!
Read the feedback below and listen to their fabulous compositions! Check out the brilliant animation too!
Dear Year 5B
Wow! A huge congratulations on your fantastic composition Neon Pink
We loved hearing your interpretation of the colour Neon Pink that you chose to complete Omar’s opera ‘Blue, Red, Yellow…’ .
At the ENO, a group of us got together to listen to all of the compositions submitted to us just before Christmas.
Your composition was listened to by: Omar Shahryar, Composer of Blue, Red, Yellow
And here is their feedback: Purely percussion, but a lovely use of rhythm here really grabs the ear. Well done composers!
We couldn’t agree more with them – congratulations again to you all!
Enjoy celebrating your amazing work on the project, and we very much hope you are inspired to keep on composing!
Warmest wishes,
English National Opera
Dear 5M
Wow! A huge congratulations on your fantastic composition Emerald Green
We loved hearing your interpretation of the colour <colour> that you chose to complete Omar’s opera ‘Blue, Red, Yellow…’ .
At the ENO, a group of us got together to listen to all of the compositions submitted to us just before Christmas.
Your composition was listened to by: Omar Shahryar, Composer of Blue, Red, Yellow
And here is their feedback: Only percussion, but has a nice ambulatory feel which suits green, and then a fun change of tempo
We are also especially excited to let you know that your composition was one of 41 (out of over 200 submitted) to be selected to be turned into an animation! Huge congratulations! Here is a link to your animated composition:
Enjoy celebrating your amazing work on the project, and we very much hope you are inspired to keep on composing!

Last term, year 6T used their music technology lessons to ‘get spacey’! Have a listen to their awesome garage band creations here: Bowker Vale Music Tech.mp4 Thank you Jen for helping us create these pieces!
As we are studying the events of WW1, we have been creating dance movements to link with this time in history. Today we explored how the soldiers might have marched by listening to the music from that era and considering travel and direction.

We have been using garage band on iPads to create our own music. We are budding musical stars!🌟

We have been exploring Makey Makey, a physical computing piece of hardware ( or invention kit!😊) and have been having lots of noisy fun.
Over the past few weeks, we have attempted to make music using these kits and a variety of objects including bananas, tomatoes and leaves. It has been lots of fun debugging our work to ensure musical success.

If music be the food of 6M, play on! Every Tuesday we enjoy an unbelievably creative and uplifting hour making beats, putting down grooves and sending out good vibes on Garage Band. Look out for us on iTunes!
