We love using multilink – even in Year 6! Physically making cubes helped us to understand cubed numbers so much more!

Maths Competition!
On Wednesday, Bowker Vale hosted a maths competition for children in our local cluster. Children from St Anne’s RC Primary School, Abbott Community Primary School, Unity Community Primary School and St Clare’s Primary School joined us to take part in four rounds of maths challenges that really got our brains working hard. All the children showed amazing collaboration skills, resilience and determination, and had so much fun! Congratulations to the winners: Abbott Legends! We can’t wait for the next one!
Year 6 Maths
Can you use a pack of playing cards to learn about factors? Year 6 can! This week we enjoyed learning how to play ’10 factors’.
Year 6 Maths
Here is a fun maths starter that got our addition and subtraction juices flowing this week. Everybody starts with 50. If you turn over a red suit you add the value on the card, if you turn over a black suit you subtract the value. When all the cards are turned over, whoever has the most is the winner!
Year Two Maths
So far in year two, we have been learning about number and place value in our maths lessons.
From next week, we will be learning about addition and subtraction.
Please use these knowledge organisers to support your child with their learning.
Maths in Giraffes
Today we went on a walk to find Autumn objects to sort into different groups. We sorted them into leaves and not leaves, sticks and not sticks, green and not green. We then sorted them into 3 different groups. The children really enjoyed their outdoors maths lesson.
No Pen Day in 3A!
3A had a brilliant morning learning how to read aloud effectively! They practised reading clearly, with feeling and expression using gestures and actions.
They read a play script from the story of Oliver Twist.
Amazing teamwork 3A and fabulous expressive reading!
In our Maths lesson 3A learned about capacity. They used containers of different sizes and carefully poured out different amounts of coloured water reading the scale on the side of the containers.
Amazingly very little water was spilled. The person to spill the most water was Miss Jones!
Well done 3A!
Y4 Maths – Fractions
Over the next few weeks, we will be learning about fractions in our maths lessons. Please use the knowledge organiser below to support you with your learning.
Maths in Year 3 with Explore Learning
Yesterday Tom from Explore Learning came in to Year 3 to teach us all about coordinates. We used our knowledge of north, east, south and west to navigate our ship to the treasure without hitting any rocks!
Explore learning
Today the children in year 3 had a visit from Tom from Explore Learning. We learnt all about coordinates and navigated our way round a treasure map! Well done everyone, you worked really head!
