Chicks in EYFS

The children (and adults!) have been so excited to have some eggs delivered to our school. We have been looking and listening very carefully to see what happens. We were so delighted yesterday when we heard some chicks cheeping from inside their eggs. This morning we came into school to a wonderful surprise. 5 chicks had hatched over night! We will be watching carefully to see how many more will hatch and learning all about lifecycles.

This morning 5 chicks had hatched. We moved 3 to a bigger home because they were nice and fluffy. These ones stayed in the hatcher for a little longer to keep nice and warm whilst they fluffed up.

This afternoon we had even more excitement when another chick hatched.

These chicks are all nice and fluffy in the big box where they can keep warm and learn to eat and drink.

Zebra class farm visit

We had an amazing time this week when Bowland Farm came to visit. Farmer David told us lots of information about all of his animals for our new topic. The children all behaved beautifully around the animals, making sure they were quiet and gentle. They also all had a chance to feed the animals. We were very impressed with their confidence. We are going to be spending the rest of this term learning all about animals, what they need and their habitats.

Zebra class maths tea party

On Wednesday we invited our families in to our class for a maths bingo game. A great time was had by the children and their families, who had the opportunity to find out about what we have been learning and the strategies we use to help us with our maths in Reception. Thank you to all of the families who attended. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

Zebras forest school

Today the children in Zebra class from the first forest schools group had their final session. They had a fabulous time playing in the woods, exploring the wild animal soft toys and most excitingly toasting delicious marshmallows by the fire. All of the children behaved beautifully and understood how to keep themselves safe.

The next group will start after half term.
