Leaf bashing

One of today’s activities is leaf bashing which is something we do in forest schools. Have a look at the instructions below and have a go for yourself. Remember to send your photos to nursery@bowkervale.manchester.sch.uk

Start by exploring the trees and plants in your garden or on your daily walk and find one or two leaves or flowers that look bright and colourful.

Materials you will need;

  • Paper or card
  • Kitchen towel
  • A stone
  • One or two leaves or flowers

1, First, place your chosen leaf or flower onto your paper and cover with your kitchen towel.

2, Using a stone bash over your leaf or flower until you can see the colour coming through onto the kitchen towel.

3, Gently remove the kitchen towel.

4, Finally carefully pull off your leaf or flower from the paper to reveal your imprint.
