Walk into the Weekend #3

The rain didn’t dampen our spirits today! 11 children joined our walking bus, along with Mrs Jacques, Miss Thomason and Buddy! We even fed the ducks and geese this morning! The club is helping working parents, helping keep cars away from school at drop off time and giving the children a positive, fit and healthy start to the day. If you would like to register, please speak to the office.

Walk into the Weekend #2

Our second morning ‘walking bus’ club took place again today. We met our group at 8.05am in the Heaton Park car park by Sheepfoot Lane, donned High-vis jackets and attached a new pedometer to ourselves to count our steps.

The group took it in turns to walk Buddy on the lead and we learned what to do when other dogs were around.

Everyone had a little play on the park and then we arrived ready for the start of the day just before 8.40am.

Would anyone else like to join the group? It’s a help for working parents and carers as you can drop the children off at 8.10am and we will walk them to school for you!

Please contact the office if you would like a place.

Eco Leaders celebrate opening of new carving in Blackley Forest.

The Eco Leaders were kindly invited by The Friends of Blackley Forest, along with several Councillors, to an opening of a new carving in Blackley Forest.

The new carving has been created by local artist, Karl the Carver. It depicts the face of The Green Man and many woodland creatures found in the forest. It can be found at the entrance to Blackley Forest on Blackley New Road.

The Eco Leaders had some questions for Karl and found out that the carving was made using a chainsaw and took about a week to make. They thought the carving was incredible and one of them described it as ‘breath-taking’.

Year 1S – A term of Forest School Fun

This term Year 1 have loved their forest school sessions. We have explored the forest for its wildlife, we have spotted different birds and bugs and created cosy homes for them using forest treasures.

We have had the pleasure of taking Buddy along with us as he loves forest school as much as we do.

We have identified different leaves from trees and flowers that have started to grow through spring.

We have played fun games of ‘hide and seek’, ‘the moth and the bat’, races and of course much fun to be had on the wooden tree swings.

We have enjoyed sitting round the forest circle and having hot chocolate with a biscuit whilst chatting and making each other laugh.

We are very lucky to have forest school, thank you Mrs Nicholson for giving us this wonderful experience.
