In Computing, we have been learning how to change codes and write programmes to create shapes and movement on Scratch. Each week we are going to learn a new skill to hopefully be able to create our own innovative and original game. Watch out Microsoft!

Safer Internet Day
Today we enjoyed picking up internet safety tips in an online workshop from Manchester City. We even got a shout out from one of the coaches!
Digital Leaders in Reception
Makey Makey is an invention tool designed to connect everyday objects to computer keys. The digital leaders showcased the kit to Reception and taught them how to make music using carrots and bananas!
Year 4 photo editing
In Computing we are learning to manipulate images digitally and how to identify changes that have been made to edited images on the internet. Today we manipulated some of our own images using paint.net.
Tinkering!
It’s been a week of tinkering for year 6! We tinkered with materials that we could use to create our model war memorials in D&T (although most of us have decided to use clay). In computing, we used tinkercad to create our own maze!
Digital Leaders
The digital leaders enjoyed an afternoon using ‘Makey Makey’. This is a great technology that enables you to play fruit! The leaders got to grips with it first and then had fun demonstrating ‘banana bongos’ and ‘carrot piano’ to Year 1.
Year 4 data logging
Today we got out into the school grounds with our sensory data loggers. The children went to multiple locations and were able to record information about the school such as which part of the school was the coolest, which classroom had the most light and which areas were the quietest.
Safer Internet Day 2022 – All Fun and Games? Exploring Respect and Relationships Online…
Today, is Safer Internet Day. Safer Internet Day inspires a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically, and creatively.
In 3MT this afternoon, we have been thinking about how to stay safe when playing games online. We had an ‘alien visitor’ called Gonk arrive in desperate need of our online expertise. We helped him to understand how to stay safe whilst playing games online.

LEGO engineering competition
A huge well done to Mia, Sam, Rayhan and Ismail in Years 5 and 6 for their efforts in a LEGO competition. They skilfully built and programmed a robot to complete various challenges called Cargo Connect. Bob (the robot) had to deliver packages, mend bridges and avoid collisions. For me the most impressive thing was that they held their heads high under stiff competition – there were only two primary schools and six high schools! What’s more, they presented an idea to improve package deliveries in real life by using a new technology called T-Rays which can look through cardboard boxes to check for damage. Surely a team of future engineers and programmers.
4M Computing
Today we learnt all the positives and negatives and editing and improving images that go on the internet. Then using paint.net we took a picture of a rotten piece of fruit and used the re-touch tools to make the fruit look perfectly edible!
