Eid Festival

We are delighted to share with you all that the total money collected from the donations at our Eid Festival was £362.18.

This money is going towards the Khizra Mosque and our families have suggested this will go towards the Communities4all initiative, to help local people of all backgrounds and beliefs. This includes food parcels, activities for adults and children and events such as health checks/talks etc.

Thank you again to all our families for helping us plan and organise such a successful Eid Festival!

Eid Festival

Last Thursday, 18th April, we celebrated Eid by hosting an Eid Festival in school, organised by our wonderful families at Bowker Vale and supported by our EDI team. We would like to thank our families for planning and organising such a wonderful event! Everyone had a great time! We can not wait to work alongside our families next year to help us celebrate Eid.

Celebrate our Community

Please come and join us on Thursday 29th February from 08:30 for our ‘Celebrate Islam’ event as part of our Celebrate our Community events that will be taking place this year!

Some of our wonderful Islamic families will have some tables in our hall displaying some interesting information which they feel is important to share with the children at Bowker Vale and their families about Islam.

We would love as many of you as possible to come along from 08:30 on Thursday 29th February.

We would also like to thank all our Islamic families parents for working collaboratively with us and for organising such a great event.

Sikhism Morning

This month we held our first ‘Celebrate our Community’ event where our wonderful Sikh families brought food and artefacts which they felt were important for the children and families of Bowker Vale to know and understand about Sikhism. They then shared an assembly all about Sikhism. It was really special! Thank you so much to our Sikh families for planning, hosting and leading such a wonderful event and to all the families who attended in the morning. We can not wait for our next event next month!

Christmas Shoe Box Appeal

The Bowker Leaders led a Christmas shoe box appeal for the wonderful ‘Homeless Project Manchester.’ Homeless Project Manchester are a local organisation who actively help the homeless in and around Manchester. We are so very proud of our Bowker Leaders, their families and the wider community at Bowker Vale Primary School and we would like to thank them for being so generous with their donations. The Bowker Leaders felt so proud that they would be helping someone this Christmas. Well done!

Celebrate our Community!

Throughout the year, we are going to be hosting celebrations of some of the different religious communities that make up our Bowker Vale school family!

We would love to work alongside our parents and carers to plan and host these celebrations, welcoming you to share your culture, religion, stories, food – anything and everything that you feel is important to share with the children at Bowker Vale and their families.

If you are a member of the Sikh community, we are looking for you to help us with our next celebration: Sikhism!

We would like to invite you to school on Monday 11th December at 2:15pm to discuss our first event.

Diwali crafts

The children in the SSC have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about Diwali this week. The children then made their own Diya Lamp, which the children made from clay. They all look amazing! Well done SSC!

SSC experiment!

As part of our work on Volcanoes, the SSC enjoyed exploring how bicarbonate of soda reacted with a lemon. We added food colouring to represent the lava flowing out of a volcano. The children worked really well with their partner carrying out this experiment. Well done SSC!
