A Special Visitor!

Yesterday year 1 witnessed something spectacular. They saw a real life alien called Beegu and her spaceship! The poor creature seemed very confused, but luckily the teachers were on hand to help fix her spaceship. As a way of saying thankyou she also left the year 1 children a very special book to read in their class.

The Summer Reading Challenge

This Summer why not get involved in the Summer Reading Challenge. This morning Alison from Abraham Moss Library came to talk to the children about the new Summer Reading Challenge ‘Ready Set Read’.

It is fun, free and a great way to get your child reading! Once your child has read 6 books they will receive a medal, a certificate and be entered into a competition to win £100 worth of toy vouchers. There are also a number of free activities that your child can take part in over the Summer holidays at Avenue Library.

We really hope that everyone will get involved. Happy Reading!

Pyjamarama Day Winners

Congratulations to the following children who are our Pyjamarama Day competition winners. Children in years 1, 2 and 3 were asked to design a bookmark and pupils in years 4, 5 and 6 had to design a new library. The entries were outstanding and very creative. Well done to everyone who entered!

Pyjamarama Day

Last Thursday we celebrated Pyjamarama Day in school. The children came into school in their pyjamas, read outside in the forest, completed a reading challenge, entered a book and library competition and completed lots of other book related activities. Their favourite part was drinking hot chocolate and eating biscuits! Everyone had a great day!
