The children of the first Forest Group had a fantastic experience at their forest school. Despite the unpredictable weather, they still had fun and created many unforgettable memories. They challenged themselves by climbing, swinging, and jumping, using tools safely, and exploring their creativity. The day always ended with a cup of hot chocolate and a delicious treat.
We had so much fun painting bears for our topic.
The nursery children had a lot of fun participating in a science experiment. We made popcorn, just like the little mouse from our story ‘Bear Snores On’.
We used our five senses: sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell to make popcorn.
First, we looked at the popcorn kernels and allowed the children to see, touch, smell, and hear them. Next, we put the kernels in the microwave and discussed the sounds we heard. While the popcorn was popping, we talked about what we saw, heard, and smelled. Once the popcorn was done, we noticed that each kernel had a different shape and that it was warm and fluffy. The most exciting part of our popcorn experiment was getting to eat the popcorn.

We had a fantastic experience at Forest School. We went on a trip to ‘Narnia’, which is located in Blackley Forest. We worked collaboratively as a team to create dens for the animals mentioned in our new story, ‘Bear Snores On’. During our time there, we had the opportunity to explore the beautiful natural surroundings and learn about the forest during the winter season. Also, we enjoyed hugging trees.
The nursery children had an absolute blast in the snow! They had a snowball fight, discovered some animal footprints, spotted signs of spring, and enjoyed delicious cup of hot chocolate with some yummy biscuits.
