We modelled the solar system with blue tac, balls, fruit and measured with…toilet roll! The first four planets are relatively close together (within 15 sheets of toilet roll). However, Jupiter was 37 sheets further, Saturn another 44, Uranus add 98 and Neptune needed 100 more! Mind blowing.
Mercury = bean sized
Venus and Earth = grape
Mars = pea sized
Jupiter = football
Saturn = grapefruit
Uranus and Neptune = tennis balls
This is so interesting! Does anyone know a mnemonic to help remember the order of the planets – if you do come and tell me for a GOLD sticker!
