In RE this week we have been learning about the Jewish festival of Purim.

Purim is a happy, colourful and vibrant festival, which celebrates the defeat of a Persian king in his quest to erase the Jewish people over 2000 years ago. The celebration focuses on a young brave queen called Esther. She’d been chosen to be the king’s new wife who had no idea she was Jewish.

At Purim some Jewish children wear fancy dress or masks. In Year 5 we made our own masks.
