Year 3 homelearning Tuesday 5th January

Good morning Year 3,

Happy New Year! We hope you have had a fun and restful winter break with your families and are ready and raring to go for our brand new term.

In the morning Google Meet session we will explain your Spelling, English and Maths tasks for the day and answer any questions you have about them.

In the afternoon Google Meet session we will discuss the History/ Geography/ Science task and explain the activity.

We are going to start our day with a wake up, shake up!

After we have warmed up our bodies we have a spelling activity for you to complete from your home learning packs. In section 1 you need to correct the spelling mistakes and in section 2 you need to find the spelling mistakes and correct them.

In our English lessons this week we are going to explore the text Cave Baby by Julia Donaldson and Emily Gravett.

Today we would like you to look at the front cover and fill out the worksheet below. The worksheet is in your packs, but I have also added a link to it here.

This week in maths we are going to be looking at 2D and 3D shapes.

This is a great website all about 2D shapes.

The powerpoint below is also a review of shape names and properties.

We would then like you to complete the following sheet from your home learning packs.

As an extra challenge we would then like you to find examples of 2D shapes in your homes. You could draw and label them, take photos or try sorting the objects that you find.

After your afternoon Google Meet we would like you to complete a History activity. We are continuing with our Stone Age to Iron Age topic and today we are going to explore a very famous archaeological site, Skara Brae.

Let’s refresh our brain with what we already know about the Stone Age.

Today we are going to become historians and found out all about the Neolithic site Skara Brae which was discovered on the Orkney Islands of the coast of Scotland. Read through the powerpoint below then use the information you have learned to fill in the Skara Brae fact file.

We hope you have a brilliant day. Remember to send your work your class email each day.
