Hello everyone and welcome back to home learning on the blog!
Maths
In the SSC we know the importance of practising our times tables regularly, because ‘if you don’t use it, you lose it’. Complete the four times table activities below.

Topic
Each term the SSC class studies a different Topic that teaches us all about history and geography.
Our new Topic theme for this term is Extreme Explorers! Each week we will be looking at what skills you need to become an Extreme Explorer. These will include knowing facts about global and local historic events, where they took place and when. Each week we will be adding our knowledge of extreme explorers and historic events to a timeline, to remind us of the explorer skills we have learned each week.

The Gunpowder Plot
This week, we are learning all about Bonfire Night – why it is a British tradition and the story of Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder plot. Watch the video below to learn facts about the Gunpowder plot.
Think about who is Guy Fawkes? When did the Gunpowder plot take place? Why did it happen and why do we now celebrate Bonfire night? You can email the answers to these questions to the SSC or draw a picture linked to Bonfire Night or the Gunpowder plot.
Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London, hundreds of years ago. Although, not exactly the same building, the Houses of Parliament still stand today and are where laws of the country are debated and passed. Click the link below to take a virtual tour of the Houses of Parliament and it’s chambers today.

In class the children will be creating firework jars. I have added step by step instructions and a video tutorial below so that you have the option of creating these at home.

We will post the firework jars that we create later on today.
We can’t wait to see your creations and receive your work around the Bonfire Night.
Have a great weekend everybody,
The SSC Team
