Y2M have a wonderful Wednesday!

Wow year 2! Can you believe we are half way through the week? Thank you to the children that are sending their fantastic work to the class email, it is lovely to see your hard work!

In Year 2, we always start the day thinking about our inner being and working from home is no different. Today we will focus on positivity. If we feel positive about things we are confident and think of the good parts of a situation instead of the bad parts, so this morning write down three things in your life that you can be positive about. Do you want to share your thoughts with somebody you trust?

English

By the end of this week, we would like you to write your own version of ‘The enormous turnip’, so all your work over the next few days will help you with your story writing. First, we would like you to read the original story and retell the story with actions.

You can also watch the story to give you ideas for the actions.

After that, draw three characters from the story and write down all the adjectives you can use to describe them. Can you use an expanded noun phrase? The links below will help you understand adjectives and expanded noun phrases.

Maths – Ordering numbers within 100

In this lesson you will be comparing 2-digit numbers, identifying which is greater or less and putting numbers in increasing and decreasing order. Before you start you will need a pencil, rubber, paper and some countable objects to represent 10’s and 1’s. You can use pasta, pencils, counters, marbles or Lego. Ask an adult to help you find the resources you need.

Geography – In topic we are continuing our work on the United Kingdom, so by the end of the week we can write a fact file all about the UK. In today’s lesson we join Miss Browne in learning about some of the famous features from the four different countries within the UK. We learn about both natural features and human features such as capital cities. This will help you write a fact file for each country with some of the key information from the lesson.
