Doubles on Ladybirds!

Happy Tuesday Year 1!

Today enjoy listening to one of my favourite Julia Donaldson stories ‘What the Ladybird Heard’.

Now, think about that little ladybird and the spots on her back.

She is going to help us with DOUBLING numbers!

Take a look at these lady birds. We would like you to create you own lady bird and make some spots or use buttons/pennies or round objects from around your house to use as spots.

Use the spots to create doubles, then write down the doubles as number sentences to help you remember your doubles. For example 4 + 4 = 8, 6 + 6 = 12.

Here is an example of a game and it you have a small mirror at home it is a great way to show doubles of objects!

Have a go at playing this online game where you have to find the matching answer card.
