Start of Week 7 in Lockdown Update

As we begin week 7 of lockdown, I hope that you and your families are all keeping safe and well during this very difficult time that we are all experiencing. I wanted to say a big thank you to all of you who are supporting your children to do their home learning and to the children who are doing it.  Well done to you all!

Please remember that we are very happy with whatever type of learning your children are involved in at home.  They may be learning through gardening, cooking, sewing, crafting and other household activities.  They may be online using a range of resources, including this blog or completing work on paper, be it maths questions or writing stories or a diary.  All of these options are really valuable and will keep their minds alert and busy. The main thing we would really like you to do is encourage reading every day.  This is so important and will really help them to be ready whenever school does return to normal.

We are aware that in this difficult time it may not always be easy for your children to do their work and they may need time to just relax and play.  This is fine too; we want you all to be as happy as you can be during this challenging time so a balance of activities is great.  It may also be difficult for you, as parents and carers juggling work, time for yourself and time to teach your children. Please just do what you can each day and keep weekends and holidays (and Bank holidays!) as time for your family where you can.

Please remember that we are here to help you.  Do get in touch with your class teacher by email (year? or phone us on the school number between 9-3 if you think there is anything that we can help with.

We just don’t know when school can start to return to normal. We need assurances from the government and their scientific advisers that it is safe to do so. Safe for you, safe for your children and safe for the staff.  What we do know is that when lockdown is altered, we won’t all be back in on day 1. It will be a phased return, in order to protect your children, you and all of the staff. I will write to let you know as soon as we know what is happening.

Take care, stay safe and well. Thank you for your support.
